Fans have often said, “I can listen to Nicola read from a phone book, she’s that good.” Well we got our wish (kind of) with this radio show on BBC Radio 4.
Episode 7 was just wow! It was 20 minutes of Nicola reciting a whole load of historical and other “facts” to the main character of this show, played by Barnaby Kay (to whom Nicola is married), rapid fire fashion. Did you do it in one take? How long did it take?
Nicola : It took about four hours, I think. We just ran it and stopped to re-take any sections the brilliant writer/director Julian wanted to.
Nicola in bossy mode. Great stuff. Nicola told us that she started the recording using another voice but Julian Simpson stopped her and told her to just use her normal voice. Interesting! 🤔😁
