Ruth’s has had a thoroughly miserable time in Spooks Series 9 where her love life is concerned. Her relationship with Harry seems to have reached an impasse. We thought that perhaps Ruth ought to try online dating and to that end, we have put together this Online Dating Profile for Ms. Evershed, in the hope that she might get lucky, somewhere, somehow. What do you think, should she or shouldn’t she, reach out for someone else, that is?

In her own words
I have recently come out of a rather intense relationship which ended badly; he died. I then threw myself into work – I am an analyst with one of the biggest security organizations in the world. Lately, my job has sort of overtaken my life and now I’m trying to get back on the bus and into the world of dating. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want a relationship, I do. But I’m not about to jump into one. I don’t jump into decisions at work and there’s no way I’ll jump into a relationship either. For now, I’m more interested in going out, having fun, and getting to know someone who will respect my job and all the time it requires of me. Occasionally, weird things happen to me because of my job; nothing that you should be afraid of, but just realize that if we get together, you’re in for a wild ride. I love funny guys who can hold me spellbound with a story or make me laugh until I cry. I also love creativity and passion. The right man should not only fascinate me but also bring out the best in me. We should push each other to be the greatest people we can be. If you’re comfortable in your own skin, have a strong sense of self and aren’t afraid to expose your flaws, I’m sure we’ll get along just fine. If it turns out that we make better friends, great, and if its more than that, then even better.

Editor : The first four comments below were received when this Profile was first published on the old fansite back in October 2010. However, under the old format, it was difficult for us to display comments to a particular entry. With our new format, leaving comments is easy, which is why we feel that the comments already given before should be displayed here.
Hmmm, she’s not too fussy is she 😉 ‘Education: any’: I would imagine someone as intelligent as Ruth would actually need someone quiet similarly intelligent to keep her interested and entertained, so maybe ‘Education: University’ would be more suitable? Had great fun reading this and have been pondering it far too long I think haha.
Most online dating sites advise you to be more inclusive (ie not fussy) rather than exclusive in order to maximise your chances of receiving a response, hence the many “any” entries in a lot of online dating profiles. Perhaps Ruth is just looking for a bit of fun, someone to relax with after a hard day on the Grid or in the field. 😛
Ah yes, good point about the usual online dating site behaviour. I think I just want her to have someone who ‘deserves’ her: someone equally ‘special’. Your comment about ‘bit of fun’ reminds me of an old british sitcom called ‘Drop the Dead Donkey’ lol. There was a very posh middle/upper class newsreader in the show called Sally. And her regular choice of partners was lorry drivers lol. So maybe Ruth ‘slumming it’ for a while isn’t so surprising. Actually, now I’ve been thinking of it some more, I can quite imagine Ruth with someone ‘creative’; something like an antique furniture restorer, or furniture maker. Someone who could create beautiful things: someone with good taste 🙂
Ruth deserves someone who is not repressed but a little bit more outgoing. 😀
And a little bit more ’emotionally forthright’ than Harry – or at least, Harry needs to summon up the courage to be more emotinally forthright, then perhaps Ruth will follow suit! Still hoping for S10 you see 🙂
Doesn’t the description of her ideal match sound suspiciously like Harry? Come on Ruth, just let go of your principles a bit in S10 and all your problems will be solved!
Apparently, a lot of women with online dating profiles describe their ideal match in these terms 😀
Perhaps that’s where I’ve been going wrong then… 😉
You’re not looking for a similar type 😛 ?
Well, I wouldn’t say no if the opportunity arose (who would?!), can’t see it happening somehow 🙁 !!
Ye of little faith *tuts* 😀
Call me a realist!
Ruth hon, ditch the old guy and go with someone new, please. You’ve been with a Greek guy before, you know what good lovers they make 🙂
Don’t forget she’s not a fan of europop…!
Also may I just say, I thought it was odd that she sang along to that band’s music in 3.8. I just can’t see her having liked it ever!
Bonjour,
Bien sur, Harry et Ruth vont très bien ensemble.
Super site, continuez..
J’ai un petit problème, je n’arrive pas à voir les épisodes de Spooks (saison 9) sur internet en France. Merci
I think it is Ruth who needs the kick in the pants, the man proposed to her for heavens sake, even though it wasn’t very romantic
