I love the story behind this project as well. What happened to the stolen Mac? Did he get it back? And the fact that Nicola only “needed” 48h to do her work only shows how bloody good she is at what she does?
I’m not sure what happened to the stolen MAC but since the project was eventually finished, I can only assume that Matt was able to reassemble his footage from other sources. Matt only had 48 hours to assemble his cast and crew. I don’t think that Matt meant Nicola only had 48 hours to do her work, although at 15-17 minutes long, it could mean that the film was shot within 48 hours. Besides, as a Spooks veteran, Nicola is probably used to having pages of script filled with difficult technical terms thrown at her at short notice – remember what she said during that radio interview she did for Spooks. Fire Horse is a human interest story so presumably the lines are much easier to learn. From the story’s description, I suspect Barnaby Kay has a bigger role in this film than Nicola. Regardless of whose role was bigger, it must be a project they both believed in, which makes it a project deserving of our support. 😀
Good for Nicola and Barnaby Kay to act in Fire Horse. I am surprised that it has not yet been selected by a film festival in Britain or in the States. The issues evoked in the movie affect many communities and the actors are well-known. I love the picture in character.
Matt has only just finished the film. He couldn’t have submitted it to various film festivals until he was finished with post production. In the Post above, he gives reasons why it has taken him 2 years to finish the film.
We’ll update this Post as soon as we get more info from Matt. 🙂
