This is such a brilliant, funny series and Nicola does a superb job of bringing Annika to life. We wish they would turn this radio series into a television series 😀
[December 2020 Ed’s Note : We are happy to announce that Annika has indeed been turned into a TV show, which is covered HERE.]
Incidentally, Nicola is not related to the writer of this show, Nick Walker.

Theme song
In response to the many enquiries we received from fans of the show about the theme song for this series, we asked and received the answer from Karen Rose of Sweet Talk Productions, the producer of Annika Stranded :
The artist(s) are Klara and Johanna Soderberg (aka First Aid Kit) and the song title is ‘To A Poet‘
Does anyone know anything about lovely theme music, please?
In response to the many enquiries we receive about the theme music, we have updated the post – check out the last entry in the Post above.
Only just discovered this series and have listened to all of series 3. Very entertaining and I would like to listen to Series 1 and 2 as well but cannot find them anywhere. The stories are great and Nicola Walker does a superb job as narrator
BBC Radio occasionally repeats S1 and S2 of Annika Stranded. If that happens, we’ll mention it here as well as on Twitter. Follow us on Twitter for all the latest news of Nicola. Details in the panel to the right.
These stories are marvellous. I have heard series 1 and 3 but unaccountably missed series 2. Here’s hoping they are repeated at some stage.
Series 3 has been on Radio 4 this week so will be on the iPlayer for a month or so.
Glad to find others who think these broadcasts are excellent. The stories, and reading are so ‘real’, if that makes sense.
Came across Annika Stranded by accident as is often the case but was instantly hooked, love the quirky, amusing stories brilliantly read by Nicola W, a treat, thanks.
Why the desire to turn this series into a television series? The assumption that transferring something to TV is some sort of ‘reward’ for being a good radio programme is very misguided. Radio is not only the senior medium, it leaves far more to the imagination and is therefore more creative (‘the pictures are better’). This series would be hopeless on TV.
Dire, humourless stories about an incompetent policewoman who never solves any crimes. Why would anyone write this rubbish let alone broadcast it?
Given that the show is now in Series 3, you are very much in the minority.
Best you not listen and if not a Fan then this isn’t the website for you but you are truly missing the work of one of England’s great actresses. The show grows on you.
Excellent drama shamed each episode is only 15 minutes long. What is the name and artist of the song used on this programme?
We got the answer from Karen Rose of Sweet Talk Productions, the producer of Annika Stranded :
You can find this on YouTube.
They’re called First Aid Kit. A sister duo.
Fantastic news! Loved the first series and having read the synopsis for the second, I’m very excited!!
