Aristophanes – The Gods are Laughing

One website has described it as an “offbeat look at the life and works of ancient Greek playwright Aristophanes.”

From IMDb –

Specially commissioned by the British Film Institute and Channel 4, this pseudo-biography shows how Aristophanes became the father of political satire and why his theatrical innovations are still staples of the contemporary theatre.

You can read a little more about Aristophanes, the writer, HERE on IMDb and HERE on Wikipedia. Judging by the negative review left on IMDb, this TV movie was not well received.
